Tell us about where you grew up and your family background?
I am originally from Guanajuato Mexico. I am the sixth of eight children. I was born and raised Catholic, but for some years I was not practicing until I had a conversion and fell in love with the Lord.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love going out to the movies. I like watching shows on Netflix. I like playing Basketball and weightlifting. I love to read. I like going out with friends and have a good time.
What is one of your favorite scriptures?
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you: do not fear; I will help you” (Is 41: 13).
Who is your favorite saint and why?
I will have to go for St John Vianney for his zeal to save souls.
What is your vocation story? How did you feel called to the priesthood?
I always felt called to help people, but never thought it was the priesthood. God has slowly been revealing the call to the priesthood. After I had my conversion, the desire to help just grew stronger. Showing God’s love to others is so fulfilling to me.
What is seminary life like for you?
Seminary is a place that nourishes my call to the priesthood. All dimensions of formation (academics, spiritual, human, and pastoral) are geared to help me discern and prepare me to serve God’s people.
What do you look forward to about being a priest?
Bringing God’s love to people through the different ministerial facets of the priesthood, especially the Sacraments.
What advice do you have for other guys thinking about the priesthood?
Regardless of our call, we should have God as the center of our lives. Stay in His love, and He will guide you.
